Red Seal Executive Chef Jason Oliver

An Edmonton local, Chef Jason Oliver is excited to be joining the team at Rooster Café and Kitchen.

This past season, Oliver worked as the Executive Chef at the Five Star Wiley Point Wilderness Lodge in Lake of the Woods, Ontario, but decided that it was time to head back to his roots. With close to 30 years of work experience in the Hospitality Industry, he has cultivated many different culinary styles. Oliver is looking forward to working with Rooster Café and Kitchen to oversee the growth of their brand.


In his youth, Oliver spent many days in gardens, fields of grain, and tending animals in the country. He learned that hard work started before the chickens stirred. Oliver is grateful for the support of his friends and family and embraces the past, present, and future experiences which have continued to allow him to grow.


As the Executive Chef at Rooster Café and Kitchen, Oliver plans to use locally produced and sourced goods that support #yeg and it’s surrounding communities, as well as other Canadian provinces. These partnerships create a sustainable growth that will continue to help build a better culinary scene in Edmonton.

The Rooster has a lot of delicious dishes for breakfast (the skillet, the schmears, eggs and bacon) but the blueberry polachintas got the most noms.

We are a locally focused counter cafe & full service breakfast restaurant on Whyte Avenue

Our seat yourself cafe provides guests with an array of food and beverage options to stay or to-go. We offer many homemade items like our fresh baked bialys and bagels that can be turned into delicious sandwiches with our house whipped cream cheese, cured salmon gravlax and Sgambaros smoked salmon.


Rooster Cafe also carries delicious products crafted by local producers from the greater Edmonton area. Our coffee is Dark Colombian Supremo from local Tea and Coffee company including beans and grounds to take home!


Rooster Kitchen is a full service 60 seat breakfast and lunch restaurant joined to our cafe. The restaurant features many locally sourced farm ingredients and hand crafted prepared items from local producers. Our constantly expanding menu has an eastern European influence showcasing items hard to find in yeg.


Both the cafe and restaurant are open 7 days a week!
